Bio

Paramore is an alternative rock/pop punk band from Tennessee. Originally formed in 2004, the band consists of lead vocalist Hayley Williams, drummer Zac Farro, and Guitarist Taylor York. Williams and Farro are two original founding members of the band; Paramore has had a number of personnel changes over the years. Williams is the only band member to appear on all five studio albums. As one might expect, their music changed with the coming and going of band members, yet they always maintained a signature core sound. What is most striking about Paramore’s sound is its growth which seems to parallel the age of the group members. Their youthfulness doesn’t detract from their abilities as professional musicians. Instead, it electrifies their music with passion and honesty. What started as a band of gifted teenage musicians as young as fourteen rapidly grew to a global sensation with a powerful stage presence. Within a year after the release of their debut album, All We Know is Falling, Paramore was headlining a U.S. Tour and playing in front of sold-out audiences.

Hayley Williams was originally signed to Atlantic Records as a solo pop artist at age fourteen, but she insisted on playing alternative rock with a band. With the addition of guitarist Josh Farro, drummer Zac Farro, and bassist Jeremy Davis, Paramore signed to the label Fueled by Ramen, a subsidiary of Atlantic Records, owned by Warner Music Group. Signing to the niche label Fueled by Ramen was a marketing strategy meant to improve the band’s image by not being attached to a major label. Regardless, their second studio album, Riot!, was a huge mainstream success that explored a range of musical styles with hit singles “Misery Business,” “That’s What You Get,” and “Crushcrushcrush.” Riot! was certified platinum in the United States and earned Paramore a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. The following album, Brand New Eyes, was also successful and is the band’s second-highest-charting project.

Paramore was often a part of the lineup for the Vans Warped Tour, and as promotion for Brand New Eyes, they recorded a performance with MTV Unplugged. With their self-titled fourth album, after the departure of Josh and Zac Farro from the band, Paramore earned their first number-one spot on the U.S. Billboard 200. Nine Inch Nails drummer Ilan Rubin joined as the session drummer for these recordings. This album explored new wave and synth-pop styles, topped the charts in seven other countries, and included the singles “Still Into You” and Grammy-winning “Ain’t It Fun.” It is also worth noting that Paramore’s music has been incorporated into a number of video games, such as Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Saints Row 2, and even the console version of Sims 2. Guitar Hero World Tour went as far as to incorporate Hayley Williams as an unlockable character.

Paramore is currently working on their sixth studio album and will be touring through the Spring and Summer of 2023. Upcoming tour dates and locations are listed below.
